In the fall of 2006, the Board of Directors and Advisory Board were assembled to ensure the long-term sustainability of the organization and direct its strategic vision. The Board of Directors works closely with the Advisory Board to implement lasting solutions and grow the mission of the 4K. They work hand-in-hand with the campus teams to ensure the summer treks are executed seamlessly.

Executive Committee

RHanley 2Ryan Hanley, Chairman

Ryan founded the 4K for Cancer in 2002 and now serves as the chairman of the board of directors. He oversees the board's various subcommittees to ensure that their activities are aligned with the organization's mission and founding principles. Ryan now resides in Berkeley, California where he is an MBA student at UC Berkeley. 

 

 

 

 

Jenn Hardy 2Jenn Hardy, Vice Chairman

Jenn helped lead the inaugural 4K trek in 2002. As Vice Chair, Jenn works to ensure the continued success of the board, especially regarding our growth plan. As Chair of our Growth committee, Jenn is tasked with ensuring the growth of the 4K and its mission while ensuring we operate as an efficient non-profit. Jenn lives and works in Brooklyn, NY with her husband Rob.

Gary participated in the inaugural 4K ride and now serves as Secretary, a position he has held since joining the board in 2008.  He oversees the 4K's legal and regulatory compliance. Gary and his wife Rebecca live in Washington, DC where he works as an attorney. 

 

 

 

Stephen Bernacki Picture 2Steve Bernacki, Treasurer

Steve ensures the financial sustainability and efficiency of the 4K. He manages our budgeting, reporting and federal filing efforts. Steve has been a member of the board since it was founded. He lives in Chicago, IL and works in the restaurant management industry.

Blair Decembrele 2aBlair Decembrele, Public Affairs

Blair participated in the inaugural 4K trek in 2002 and now serves as the chair of the Public Affairs committee. She oversees the 4K's public relations, alumni outreach, marketing and communications. Blair resides in New York City and works for a public relations agency.

 

 

 

 

Richard Hsu 2Richard Hsu, Public Affairs

Richard rode on the 2009 trek and joined the board at its completion. Richard is responsible for maintaining and updating the 4K Web site and information technology systems. He currently resides in Fairfax, Virginia and works as a Software Analyst for a scientific consulting company.

 

 

 

 

 

Ashley Coleman 2Ashley Coleman, Sponsorship

Ashley was a member of the inaugural 4K trek in 2002. Since the ride, she has been committed to recruiting students across the Southeast to participate in the 4K. She now works in sponsorship and event planning for the board. Ashley resides in North Carolina with her husband and three dogs and in her spare time enjoys running half marathons.

 

 

 

tom cropTom Hintze, Sponsorship

Tom was a 4K rider in the summer of 2007 and co-directed the 2009 trip.  He is currently a member of the growth committee on the board of directors.  Tom currently lives in New York where he works in the fine dining industry and is pursuing a career as a writer.

 

 

 

chris cropChris Louie, Campus Operations

Chris chairs the Campus Operations committee which oversees recruitment, training, and logistics for our campus teams. He works to develop successful campus teams while serving as the link between the board and campus. Chris has participated in two 4K treks, first as the trip manager in 2007 and then as co-director in 2009. Chris is a young trustee of Johns Hopkins University and is pursuing a masters degree in biopharmaceuticals at the University of Pennsylvania.           

 

Mary-Lacey RogersMary-Lacey Rogers, Campus Operations

Mary-Lacey currently works on the Campus Operations committee for the board of directors. She has been working on developing a team/campus model for the 4K as well as compiling the tools necessary to move forward with the growth of the organization. In the future, she will assist the Sponsorship Committee in acquiring long-term sponsorships. Mary-Lacey is a '09 4K alumnus from Mobile, Alabama who currently resides in Baltimore, MD.

Diana was a rider and team manager for the 2009 team and joined the board in the Fall of '09. She helps oversee campus operations and training for the current 4K team. She is currently a student studying Public Health at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD. 

 

 

 

AnneBoDAnne Smedinghoff, Campus Operations

Anne joined the Board of Directors in 2009, and splits her efforts between the Campus Operations and Public Affairs Committees. She focuses on rider training efforts and community outreach. She participated on the 2009 trip, and served as Communications Manager for the team that summer. Anne currently lives in Chicago, IL.

 

 

 

meredithMeredith Bell, Alumni Relations

Meredith oversees the alumni relations efforts for the board of directors. As a part of the Public Affairs committee, Meredith is working to build a closer alumni network and communicate with community supporters and stakeholders. Meredith is a ’04 alumnus and currently works for a software company in Charleston, South Carolina.
